Anand Sajeevan

Renewable Energy Advice Officer
Community Energy Scotland

Having been raised in Kerala, India, Anand experienced the impact of climate change first-hand when extreme flooding left his house totally submerged in 2018. In 2023, impacted by what he saw, he moved to Edinburgh to study for a masters in Renewable Energy.

“One aspect that motivated me to work in renewable energy is that I wanted to contribute towards mitigating climate change.”

He now works for Community Energy Scotland, where he helps community organisations to lower their energy bills and develops practical plans to help them decarbonise. His objective is to create a better living environment for future generations.

“If they produce their own energy and reduce their bills, they will have the money for the community benefit.”

He feels confident about the sector’s future and believes that renewables will continue to grow as we reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. And he’s in the right place too! The Scottish government has already made massive investments into increasing renewable energy projects, helping to secure a future for the next generation.
